My car alarm started going off for no apparent reason. After much investigation and browsing online, I was able to trace the problem to the passenger side read door when the fault went hard. The door closed micro switch not working giving a red light and details on the dash. Eventually I found information online that showed the connections to the generic control unit under drivers side dash. The Green connector pin 15 is the signal wire from pax rear door. It was not going to earth when the door was closed. My solution (to avoid replacing the door locking assembly) was to solder a wire to the wire going to pin 15 and connect it to earth(negative). Alarm is working normally and other 3 doors give open indications on dash. My information gives:: Green pin 18 going to drivers side rear door. RH Rear door switch Blue Pin 21 to bonnet sw White Pin 21 to LH Front door switch. White Pin 22 to RH Front door switch. I hope this info helps someone but cannot guarantee info 100% However it has sorted my problem

Just purchased a 2015 F-Type boyhood dream 😊 was told carplay was available but I can seem to access even with cable? Any advice please

I have had this problem off and on in almost three years. First it was warped front discs, had them skimmed which gave a marked improvement. About 12 months later same problem, this time discs and pads replaced, again marked improvement. Recently feedback on brake pedal and steering gave the impression of brake problem again which really pi**ed me off. The car has passed its MOT with no problem. I went back to my mechanic conveying my frustration, he identified a problem with front upper suspension arm, I told him to replace both n/s and o/s. What a difference the braking and steering is so smooth, like a new car 😊 thought i would share in case anyone else has a similar problem.

Hi Jim, An excellent and likely diagnosis of the cause. I'm grateful to you. I am encouraged in that there are no messages on the on board computer which is not slow in coming foreward on just about every possible topic - except this one !! So if it is real, cannot be serious. The car is running fantastically well, recently serviced plus gearbox with new sump pan etc., I usually achieve on a run of mixed roads 32 - 34 mpg, as shown on the onboard computer. Fascinating and helpful to see the issues that F Pace owners have had. My 3 litre diesel 2018 had bottom end failure at 64, 000 miles . Have been looking at scrap/new engine/recon engine. Was offered second hand but not going to take a chance. My concern is after spending £8,000 on recon engine or £15,000 plus on new I could have another expensive failure on car worth £16,000. I wish I had known about bottom end failure problems. I have been quoted £5300 to buy car as it is with bottom end failure

2000 S Type 3.0. For Sale. 49,000 miles only but unfortunately no MOT. Sell for only £450. Clearly worth a lot more and a great genuine car once fixed. It has been used as a second car since new - hence the very low mileage. The car is beyond economic repair when having to pay £80 + an hour for mechanics to fix, but is very fixable by a Jaguar enthusiast. New petrol tank recently fitted. Thanks, everybody, for your input. Battery was checked, tested and replaced a couple of years ago - sounds like it's time to check it again! Goes into garage tomorrow - watch this space.

Hi Peter, I believe there is a time out element to the smart key where if it does not have power from the fob battery for a certain period it loses it's programme and that may well have happened to you during the swap over. I believe the programming of the keys for the Modern XK (X150) has to be undertaken by a dealer and of course you need to provide proof positive that you are the owner of the vehicle for which you are trying to reprogram the keys. Hi James, I would not be too quick to dismiss the dealer as to the extent of the requirements. Many manufacturers took many steps to reduce costs / expand profitability, and not installing parts / capability that wasn't being paid for by the first customer were not installed. In addition to the wiring harness, there would be switch pack amendments, software update and of course the all important motors to fold the mirrors - it's a lot of parts. That said, are you positive your XF does not have folding mirrors, just not switched on? In some vehicles, there is a tab in the vehicle settings menu to make mirrors fold automatically on locking, on others there is a requirement to hold the lock button on the fob for several seconds to make the mirrors fold. And, on some, the mirrors are folded by pressing both adjustment buttons on the door armrest at the same time. Have you experimented? N6 JMX

Brand new to the forum..I am the proud owner of a 2012 XF 5.0, a 2011 Lr2 3.6 and a 2018 Discovery Sport 2.0 Turbo gas....All cars have treated me very well but I am currently in the market for a new economical coder reader that that will support all three vehicles well. It will spend most of it life in the trunk as the kids drive the Disco Sport and the LR2...and I have to go to them for maintenance....Any suggestions? Thanks Mike

Hi, where did you change these lights? did they have to change the electronics too? I have the same problem, I have an F-pace from 20218 but it seems that changing the headlights only was not enough to change the light patern to EU requirements so it failed the MOT for me. I am being told the electronics needs programing. But no-one really knows nor want to take the chance around here to adjust my Jaguar to EU requirements. Hence the question. Thanks!

It will apparently and the values can be kept open like in the picture, although with not being able to source one I might take your advice and remove the silencer boxes

Hi Mike, reverting to the triple gauge dash is quite an involved task. Not impossible, but not for the faint hearted. However, have you considered an upgrade to your in dash Satnav with a modern replacement, which looks completely original, but has a whole host of additional features, including the potential to add a reversing camera? This upgrade is within the capability of a competent home enthusiasts and can generally be completed in a couple of hours. Hi Brandi, not sure what you are meaning by a "peripheral" alarm system, Your 2011 XK convertible is already outfitted with a "perimeter" alarm as well as an intrusion sensor alarm. The perimeter alarm works on all openings into the vehicle - doors, bonnet (hood) and boot (trunk). The intrusion sensor works to determine if anything is moving around inside the vehicle - such as a pet. If you drop the hood and then double lock the vehicle by pressing the lock button on the fob twice (x2), the full alarm will be set. Then try reaching into the vehicle to pick up a cap or sweater resting on the rear seat and the alarm will be set off. Refer to your owners handbook for more details - typically around page 27 - 28. Hi Garry, not sure about the USB in the armrest, but it probably will be disabled. I use that for the iPod connection, so effectively plays through the touchscreen selection screen for the audio. If no touchscreen, then you would not be able to select it. N6 JMX
