Hey guys, thought I'd share my delight of owning the car I've always adored since I was 16! Finally got my 02 xtype at 22 after 6 years of searching. I was not disappointed in the wait. Such a comfortable, smooth and luxury car to drive. A massive step up from the unreliable and unmanageable 02 clio. Can happily say I don't think I'll ever change from a Jaguar now! Just need to save for the sovereign super v8! Sorry if I've gone one too much, just pure joy and ecstacy right now :)

Sam,

Excellent ! Jags are fab , hope you enjoy it which I'm sure you will.

If you have any problems there is always someone at hand who can give advice.

Think you should give it a spin around Brighton.

Thank you very much, in all honesty, having a slight problem with the alpine Cd changer (hear I'm not the first) just waiting for the replacement. Long shot, but wondering if you're aware of any decent garages in the area that you use? Most definitely!

Sam,

CD's are old hat, save up to get a usb port fitted, a far better idea. Or have you thought of getting a transmitter so you can play a MP3 player through the radio system, something like this. There are loads of different makes, even Tesco sell them ?

Hi Sam, and welcome to the club.

Great to read your enthusiastic first post, and well done on your purchase. I'm double your age (44), and have had nearly 50 cars, but I picked up my first Jaguar (an X-Type as well) a fortnight ago and love it.

Now, we love pics here, so go on, get some posted  :)

Enjoy the forums

Welcome to the club, Sam.

I am glad you are enjoying your Jaguar experience.

I had to wait till I was 77 before I got my first Jaguar, and the salesman told me I would never drive another make of car.  He was right!

There is a topic on the forum about independent garages and it is worth looking at.

Regards,

Peter.

Welcome to the club, Frank.

Jaguars, although very quick, are not as thirsty as many people think.  I used to get over 36 mpg on long runs and 26 mpg around the town when I had the 2.5 litre AWD x type.

Enjoy you car and enjoy the club.

Regards,

Peter.

That's good,Trevor, but you won't have the S button pressed and letting the supercharger push those 5 litres into real action!

Peter,

I shall have it pressed and in dynamic mode going down the A303 next Wednesday early doors. I've never worried About MPG, I was just jesting, although it does do over 30MPG on a run as I stated. Overall it averages 21 MPG

Well I'm really pleased with my mpg I don't know what it is exactly but its a lot better than my last car a Audi--

I'm not a hard driver I just stick to the speed limits so that helps .

Thanks for the welcome.

Hi to all the newbies and welcome from another newbie. I haven't posted in the last few days as I've been driving around in my lovely X Type. Even my wife who's a very nervous passenger (having been in a accident in her earlier years) loves it. Amazingly I seem to be getting around 35mpg average. I had a 94geg XJ type in the past and was forever filling both tanks, what a difference!

Still hate cyclists

Glyn,

I still hate cyclists also. But now it's the holiday season I hate caravaners even more down here in Devon . They should be made to head North by law !

I'm with you caravans should be sent north preferably the North Pole, along with cyclists, lets see how long they last in their lycra   shorts up there.

Coming down your way in a couple of weeks for a few days (Paignton) so look out for a grumpy old bugger driving a Jag'. I used to live in Plymouth and it took me an extra hour to get to work in the summer.

And if there were no tourists in Devon and Cornwall, everyone would have to move North for work.  They did in the 1840s. <_<
