Now, now, Boys!

Welcome to the Club, Kevin.

What version of the x type have you got?

Try plugging in the diagnostic meter, and if you have not got an handbook you can get one of the internet which will give you some help.

Buying from auctions usually does not get you the service record, so you will have to start from scratch.

However, you will find a lot of helpful and knowledgeable people here who will give you some assistance.

Regards,

Peter.

Capital letters and punctuation would be helpful.

Welcome Kevin, Fortunately, the majority of the people who contribute to this forum do not share the same arrogant and negative attitude as this poster. Good luck with sorting out your problem and continue to write your posts as you please. I'm certain someone will have the answer.

Kevin welcome,

I'm sure we will be able to get to the bottom of this problem, so don't get too disheartened .

Which part of Surrey are you from? I used to live in Guildford and was down in Sutton only last week for a gig

Wilber,

Please treat our new members with a little respect , he is only asking for a little help .

The main reason for visiting today was to show you my new purchase, probably the last X-type sold in Portugal because it was first registered in April 2010. Unlike my previous X-type this one is the 2.2D Auto and I have to say, it is superb in every way and barely run in with 26,000km on the clock and a complete Jaguar service history. I have promised my wife that this will definately be my last car, unless of course Jaguar bring out a new version of the X-type.post-3930-0-23249700-1407667430_thumb.jppost-3930-0-38585300-1407668090_thumb.jp

Kevin,

My daughter lives in Croydon ( Purley Oaks Road), it was her I took to the gig last week .

I cannot abide bad manners, especially if someone asks a simple question . A bit of banter is fine, it goes towards a friendly forum .

But do not worry too much, I'm sure your problem isn't too big . Look on the positive side, this time next week you'll have it solved .

ATB,

Kevin,

The X Type looks in fab condition , as you said at 26000 it is barely run in, probably with it's original tank full of fuel !

You will get another Jag one day .

Hi Kevin,

I was out all yesterday watching Rugby League up North.

Your plug for your OBD reader should be on the driver's side about level with your knees.  You will have to feel around or if you re small enough get down and have a look.

Sorry that there was a bit of nastiness from a certain poster who has now gone and which Trevor dealt with.

Regards.

Peter.

I haven't gone, nor has your fellow moderator "dealt" with me, he is just selectively deleting my posts and ignoring my messages asking for clarification - or perhaps that's the way you do things around here...

This Forum prides itself on being a friendly forum, which tries to help and assist other Jaguar owners.

You posts are not censored, but they will all be read my Moderators who duty [unpaid] is to ensure that it stays that way.

As such, Trevor, who is a very reasonable person, as am I, did exactly the same as I would have done.

As I have said, this board is here to assist and help other Jaguar owners, and it is certainly not a vehicle to teach other posters English Grammar to degree standard.

I have indicated your comments to the Administrators of the Board.

Nevertheless, my posts (except the one that apparently caused offence) were deleted and my PMs asking for clarification have been ignored.

"degree standard" - Are you serious? I just found the OP difficult to read.

I found him very easy to read, and would respectfully suggest that if you found him difficult to read, just don't pass comment.

Various people have various skills.  I used to know a young man who could neither read nor write, but who was a millionaire before he was 30.  Very good at what he did!

What I objected to was my posts being deleted without warning or explanation despite my PMs to a moderator for clarification. One of my posts that was deleted offered the only helpful advice on the whole thread up to that point. When it was deleted I sent the same message via PM to the OP and he took my advice. People may not have liked my original comment, fair enough, but deleting subsequent posts is over the top.

I am afraid I didn't see your subsequent posts being away from home at a sporting venue. Moderators try to be fair minded and when a member is upset by a post a moderator will have to take action.  Trevor is a very fair and tolerant person and will always act to preserve the amity between a very friendly group of people.

Well, that has not been my experience. Heavy-handed moderation like deleting posts without explanation does nothing to foster a lively forum or help people to solve their problems.

Anyway, the the OP doesn't seem to be that offended having taken my advice sent to him via PM, so I'll leave it there.
