1 of the reverse parking sensors as gone on my XKR and I wish to replace it. Anyone know where I can get a genuine replacement other than stealers prices or will I need to visit the dealer?

I also have sensors fitted to the front which don't appear to work obviously the rear work when reverse gear is engaged how does the front come into play without stating the obvious (when drive is engaged).

Any help would be grateful.

hi ken. i bought mine from local dealer came with years warrnty.  and basicly the only trouble that i had was the parking sensors (rear) the front never had any probs with it was always the rear ones. the first one went, and took it to them they told me that wen one goes usually more go they seem to work in a chain link like christmas tree lights. they replaced the one that had gone 2weeks later the prob comes back it goes back in gets no2 replaced 2-3 weeks later no 3 rear goes and by this time im fumming coz my car before that was an x5 plagued with elec probs lost a fortune on getting rid of it then got the xk so i voiced my opinion to the service manager. who told me they would keep it and put it on thier diaognostic machine all nite and also replace it first and check the wiring loom. i got it back and alls been fine for about a year now.  but ive heard on the site they are a prob across the jaguar range xf, xj,stype ect they seem to play up in the rain frost ect. my advice to you is to take it to a recomended indy jag specalists near you their is a list off them on this site recomended by other owners get them to replace it and ask them or tell them what ive told you about wen one goes others go to and ask them to check over your wiring loom to try and prevent it happining again. i dont thing they are expensive to buy ive seen them on eBay about £20 but then your charged for fitting. to engage the  front parking sensors thier is a black button with a very small light on it if for example you are in drive and you are going into a parking space press the button that actavates the front sensors. ive never heard of any one complaining about them its allways the rear hope this has been helpfull  regards charlie

Hi Ken,

You can get genuine Jaguar parts from several sources --  I have used the David Manners Group which are quite local to me.  Rimmer Bros are also recommended

The sensors are not that expensive, though.

Happy you came back with that Charlie, I was sitting in the car going nuts  :D

Actually Charlie I'm still going nuts you see I have a XKR convertible and there is a black button situated next to the interior light however, the aforementioned button simply turns the interior light on one on driver's side and retrospectively another matching on the passengers side.

Charlie, I'm a professional electrical engineer although not automotive I do understand the theories behind electronics from which these sensors work on (it works like a transducer) which I wor with in design process every day within the water industry. I know if 1 sensor goes then none will work because they work on a daisy chain basis (resistance) What I really want is a link to getting a genuine sensor, it will take me less than 5 minutes to fit.

Think I've read the hand book front to back Charlie obviously, I'm missing it somewhere. Any other convertible owners out there who can help?
