So, after a long 5 weeks, I'm reunited with my Boxster.

To cut a long story short, it was cutting out intermittently at junctions etc, so I took it to a trusted specialist in Brighouse to get checked over. Turned out to be worn camshaft deviation guides, and it's an engine out job to replace them. When the engine was dropped, it was noted that the clutch would need replacing at some point in the near to medium term (it's on 87K), so I decided to get that replaced as well.

I'd already asked the guys to replace the suspension arms that were causing some embarrassing squeaks and creaks, and whilst that was being done, they noticed that the rear tyres (budgets fitted by the previous owner) were split and also needed replacing. Considering they are 265/30/19"s, they aren't cheap. So, from hoping the original problem might have been a small air leak or something similar, it ended up being a wallet basher!!!

Anyway, I collected it today from Brighouse, and although it cost me a small fortune to get sorted, it's almost like a new car. Light clutch, no creaking suspension, smooth idle, no worries about it dying on me at roundabouts. It's even quieter because of the better tyres on the rear.

I don't think I've posted any pics of it here.....

It's an early Boxster (1997), with the original 2.5 engine. Sounds fantastic. Has loads of extras and upgrades fitted by a previous owners, such as full red leather interior, red roof, clear lights front and rear, 19" Carrera S alloys and double din Pioneer touchscreen audio system. The private plate came with the car, and is probably worth a good deal of money to the right buyer. I was thinking of selling it, as it's maybe a bit cheesy for me to be honest. I'd rather have something personal to 'me', but I've shown the car at half a dozen classic car shows this summer, and it;'s amazing how much attention the plate gets. I think I'll keep it for now.

I have to say, this car handles like something you wouldn't believe. There's something about how it's balanced with the mid-engined layout that is simply perfect. I love this car.
