Has anyone noticed if their car runs hotter on v power as I've been using it for a couple of weeks and noticed the electric cooling fan always running when I stop

Hi, MJ,

I currently have half a tank full of the diesel version of V power.  I do get a better fuel consumption and the car does perform better, but I have not noticed the fan staying on a bit after switching off.  I have a 25 miles round trip this afternoon and I will look for that.

I've noticed better fuel consumption aswell and mine is a 3.0 petrol so it will be interesting if your diesel does the same. The only other thing I thought of is perhaps the cooling system needs a flush out and a new thermostat

Hi MJ,

I had a 220 round trip to Leeds on Sunday --  A5, M42, A42, M1 with speed restrictions for about 60 miles total and got 45.2 mpg.  Last month I got 53 mpg on a 90 mile trip to Sheffield.

On the question of coolant, check when the coolant was last changed before flushing out.

Regards,

Peter.

I've had the jaguar about 2 years and I've not changed the coolant so I think that will be the next thing to do. Also on other forums they have mentioned that it makes their engine's run hotter even on motorbikes and one biker said it made his exhaust glow . They suggested trying bp or Tesco momentum as they cured their problems

My 4L v8 seems to run better on it , temp beadle stays bang in the centre

My last car was a Volvo c70 with the d5 engine 2.5 5 cylinder D and that use to like the v power D

I might be wrongs but I like to use it once a month to clean injectors ect

Hi Luke,

I use v power every other fill up or so.  I never use supermarket fuel after my EGR valves were getting sticky after 3 or 4 fill ups of supermarket fuel.

The trip computer tells me that my tank holds 525 miles when worth of fuel after 200 or so miles [how it knows that I don't know].  I am advised my my mechanic - I have used the same one for years - that a performance car and deserves the best fuel.

In my motorcycling days I used to use 100 octane on one of my bikes, and it performed really well.  No speed limit in those days and 120 on the bypass [no motorways, either] was exhilarating.

Regards,

Peter.
