Take delivery of an xj 5.0 v8 next week. Not seriously thinking about any changes at all but would be interested anyway if a supercharger could be fitted to the Base 5.0. Probably a very daft question but then again I am a mechanical numpty!

Scott,

I would imagine so,but it would probably be very expensive.

Adding a supercharger is not as simple as adding something like a turbo charger to the engine. A turbocharger, for the most part, can just be bolted on, but in almost all cases the entire engine must be modified to enable the use of a supercharger. This includes things such as widening the cylinders.

Why not buy a supercharged one to start with ?

My Xj supersport with the supercharged 5 litre engine was considerably faster than both of my Aston Martin DB9's .

Scott,

It all depends what you want really, the XJ is a fab car regardless of engine, although I don't like devils fuel cars .

Although the supercharged 5 litre is quicker than the normally aspirated 5 litre, it isn't fantastically so , as your engine is no slouch as you will find out .

The stealership tried to sell me a XKR-S (same year as mine ), but wanted my car plus £19500 ! and not much difference in performance . Same as mine isn't that much faster than the standard XK. There is a difference between the XK, and the XKR-S though, but so is the price.

This is exactly like my car, apart from mine has ivory interior .
