I am soon to buy an X Type, and wondered, do the rear seats fold down to make more space in the boot for long objects to slide through under the shelf?

Kind Regards

Hi Dave

I bought my Xtype estate in August the seats do go down, although I have not tried to put over sized items in yet. The back goes down but the seat doesn't come up. Over Christmas I know it will happen as it usually does. Hope this helps

Thank you Andrew, my fault, I forgot to say, in a saloon X type...
Does anyone know if the rear seats fold in the saloon to make the boot bigger?

Hi Dave

I had a 2005 SE.2.0 D and the Rear Seats didn't Fold Down i now have a 2009 Sovereign and the Seat Backs Fold Down but the Cushions don't Hinge Up, there's 2 Handles in the Boot one on each side under the Parcel Shelf.I would check any cars.your going to.Test Drive and also check what Model your looking at as some were Advertised as Sovereign (Top the Range) when they were Actually SE Models and Premium Sport Models are Better equipped than the Sport.Model they also have a Sports Suspension where others have a Touring Suspension.

Hi Tom, please can you give me a quick lesson in Sport model names.. I'm looking at getting a 2.0D as I want an economical car but I also much prefer the sport models as they sit slightly lower. So is the premium Sport model called a Sovereign X Type?
Many thanks for your help

Hi Dave

The Sport Models come with quilted leather seats am not sure if they have sport badge on the Boot , the Sport Premium Model are equipped much the same as a Sovereign internally but with quilted leather seats and a firmer Suspension and have 18 in Wheels.

Hi Dave,

I had a 2.5 litre x type SE and the seats did not fold down.  I later found that it was an optional extra above the original SE specification.

Peter.
