Hi Guys,

My fog lights work, sort of!

The lights come on and if you're stood in front of the car they look ok, however from inside there is almost no illumination of the road.

Are all the pre facelift lights this poor or is it just mine?

Cheers,

Mike

Hi Charlie,

Forgot to mention that the bulbs are only a few months old and fitted by the stealership when it was serviced last.

Cheers,

mike mines a 57 plate. i updated them myself .the old ones look dated and not bright. i looked about. fancied the hid kit ones but decided i didnt want to mess about with the car in case any fault lights came up. so instead whent to halfords got the ultra bright ones and took out the headlights myself. it was a right bugger getting them out and back in without scratching the car but i got ther in the end. they are the ultra crisp side lights&fog ligts. decided to leave the main head light units alone. i have took photos of ,me doing the work but i am an old git. dont know how to post it. charlie

Front fog lights are non existent on my S Type.  Jaguar did not fit them on the 07 and 57 plates for some reason only known to themselves.  I am thinking of having a retrofit.

That is peculiar, Keith.

Do you know the date when you car left the production line?  Mine came off the Production line on the 13 March 2007, and left the factory for the Dealer on the 20th March to Stratstone in London [Woodford] and was sold on the 31st March 2007.

The Model year of the car is given from a ViIN check as 2008.

It could be that your car came off the production line prior to mine.

Hi Peter. It says in the service book that it was delivered to the dealers in July 2007. When I entered the VIN number it comes up with a 4 litre X type. Any suggestions? Regards, Keith.

More and more curious, Keith.

I used VINDecoderZ.com to get my details and the service booklet tallies with what I got.

However, on the first page of the printout it did have XJ6 4.0L compressor R6.  The second page got it right.

Some car manufacturers have been known to put cars on one side. But I think the most likely thing is that the fog lights could have been fitted by the dealer.

Fog lights are not listed in what can be factory fitted as optional extras. The photo shows that there is no fog light switch.

Regards,

Peter.

Hi Peter, Would they be fitted to my car since it is the XS model?

Posted

Hi Keith,

I have had a good look at the XS models and from what I could see on the pictures it does seem that the XS has fitted fog lamps on those that I could see clearly, and also with the appropriate switch.

Not all had the fog lights though, so it looks to me that they were an optional extra.

Regards

Peter.
