Peter,

I don't worry about things like that,

The XKR, the XJ Supersport, and both Astons were hardly frugal .

If I worried about MPG I wouldn't own a car .

123.9 pence a litre at my local Shell garage, Charlie.  How can anyone afford petrol in Scotland at £118.9 a litre I don't know.

I make sure that my longer runs are always for something useful --  visiting  ---  trips out for leisure etc.

Charlie,

Why, what's wrong with it, is it not in Gaelic ?

The sat nav I had in my XKR was excellent, never had any trouble with it, even with the Devon cart tracks .

The map on the one in this insignia car looks like its been drawn with crayon by a five year old .

trevor, the one in the xk is very basic to say the least, the thing is easy to operate, but wants to take you the wrong way all the time. in september down in the blackpool area finnished me with it, it kept trying to take me to lancaster, i know peter might like that, and it looked quite a nice town centre, but i was fed up driving through the place, mostly one way(maybe it was trying to gide me back to bonnie scotland) i find it dated to say the least, and was determined not to give mr TATA any more of my money for an update disc. i am saving that up for my cousin in germany, his first name is MERC last name BENZ . regards charlie

Charlie,

In all fairness I can't understand why anyone would have trouble using it, unless yours was the Noah's Ark version.

What is more worrying is you wanting to go to Blackpool! ( I have relatives there ).

If you must venture to civilisation, there are better places, Lancaster being one of them .

I have told Cornwall that you might be down later in the year, and they said they would make sure it's open .

Charlie,

It used to be great in the 60's . My uncle managed a theatre there,so I got in everywhere for nothing and met all the stars.

I think it has gone rather down market now, but i've not been there for years so can't comment .

My satnav on the touch screen is relatively basic, but I rather like it.  I think that pressing the wrong butt can get you where you don't want  to be.  I took me the wrong way once in Leeds, but I do know the geography pretty well up North and in the Midlands --  in fact in most of the UK.

Lancaster in a nice city  --  the Duke of Lancaster owns it and quite a bit of the land around there too.  The Duke is the only female Duke in the UK, and the title goes back to about 1066. as the UK didn't have Duke till then.

Peter,

The Sat nav on the XKR was excellent, and even gave you a choice of three different routes, never had a problem with it , it must be a Scottish thing.

The Duke of Lancaster is the Queen,  Charlie.

We Lancastrians never settle for second best.

Ready for dinner soon, just cocktails, dinner jacket and black tie, and Moules Mariniere, followed by potted Morecambe Bay shrimps with brown toast, tiger prawns and salad, washed down with a bottle of Pinot grigio, and after that a glass of mulled wine.

We have to keep up standards!
