Hi Ian,

Jaguar engines are very good for towing, and indeed some models have won the Caravan Club Towcar of the Year award.

However, no matter the power of the engine, exceeding 85% of the kerb weight of the vehicle for the trailer being towed will give you a difficult time when towing.

Hi Ian

I've had a 2.0 litre diesel se model with 5 Speed manual it does not come with an Auto Gearbox, now have a 2-2 litre diesel with 6 Speed Auto Gearbox you can get 6 Speed manual with the 2.2 Engine .I haven't used the x type for Towing but I much prefer the 2.2 with the Auto Gearbox , I have the Touring Suspension but for Towing you might prefer the Premium Sport which has a Firmer Suspension and comes with 18 in Alloy wheels where mine has 17 in Alloy Wheels .

Hi Ian,

I done 6300km on Europe roads with pleasure to drive. No towing. 2.0L Diesel. Every stop we had I was asking to drive a bit more and more.... Super Holidays. 40 to 30 MPG Depends on Driving style. All mostly Motorways.

I may go for 2.2 as has 6 speed gearbox and a bit more power but I am happy with one I have.

Regards,

Lukasz
