Jaguar S type 2001 3L V6 auto gearbox problems

Hello, If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. When I select drive I need to move the gear shift across to 4th and move it around to engage drive. Also now I have another problem as a gearbox fault has come up on the display along with a ABS  light that has come on. The car won't shift past 3rd gear. I Have used a diagnostic code reader which indicates a solenoid fault.

please check gearbox fluid and I will have a word

with the fitters at work all our vehicles are auto

I am not as much a wizard as that Trevor!

 

I would go along with what the code reader has said, initially.  But some S type and x type owners with the auto gearbox have found that an Oil change at abut 75k works wonders, even though Jaguar say that the gearbox is for life.

hi dave

had a chat with the fitters at work they say no more then what

we said sensor, gearbox Oil, and filter sorry cant be much more

help but it was worth the ask.

one did say all the things I ask about jaguar I would be better off to get a new one lol
