XF interior trim change

Hi, I have a 2009 XF Luxury 3.0D - love it. The previous owner had the trim wrapped with carbon fibre. Looks very nice, it was done exceptionally well. However, there are a couple of areas that have been scratched and I considered having piano black trim instead. I understand Jaguar will ask for £3,000,000 to do this, any suggestions as to alternatives that come under this price bracket?

Welcome to the club, you will find that somebody will always have the answer you will be looking for.

There was an episode on wheeler dealers where they had some interia parts wrapped in carbon as well as wrapping a set of wheels in tiger print, you could check on demand on sky

There must be craftsmen out there who could do a good job at a cheaper price than a Jaguar main dealer.

Did you have any luck with this. I am looking to buy an XF very shortly and evertime I find one with low mileage and within budget I am put off by the interior trim.

 

I understand that sometimes you have to compromise but I really dont want to.

Unfortunately, I didn't get any further with this. My compromise is to live with the minor scuffing. I did consider peeling the wrap off, but realised it looked like the light veneer underneath which isn't my cup of tea. If I were to keep the car for a few more years, I might consider having it done by Jaguar, but I'm likely to sell it next year. 

 

You're right not to compromise too much, something as obvious as interior trim or wheel size, paint colour has to be what you really fancy. The initial 'novelty' of owning the XF will subside, so you have to be happy to live with the choice. I once bought a BMW Z3 and opted for the 4 cylinder instead of the straight 6. I regretted it every time I started the ignition! I decided I'd never deviate from my mind's wish list after that!

After seeing the dearth of spares on eBay, I think I might go for the wrap option. Piano Black would look more contemporary.

If I were you I would check out one of the many auto detailing specialists , there are sure to be some in your area, this sort of thing is right up their street.

I don,t know if this will help much, since it would be for Left hand drive cars, LHD and I have not checked as to how much is interchangable, between LHD adn RHD. But the colour and fiber options do look much better than the  dark brown wood effect that most XF,s come in. The S Type had a nice range of wood colours what went wrong.

I know expression automotive in Shipley (West Yorkshire) would do this for you and wrap it in whatever you like but it's a bit out of your way!

Anybody know if they did Rich Oak matt trim in pre-facelift XFs? I suspect not, unless perhaps in some XFRs? 

I got a complete trim set including door card inserts off eBay in what I understand from the seller is Rich Oak (it's dark matt brown, with a strong horizontal grain). I fitted the centre console (including the triangular bit - grrr), went to do the dash and discovered that it doesn't fit, as it is post facelift, and mine's an 09! The glove box release button is in a different place and the hazard light console is a different shape. Real shame, as it looked really smart, and a big improvement IMO over the glossy burr walnut.

So do I keep the set and look for a Rich Oak dashboard panel that fits, or flog the whole set and start looking from scratch again? :-(
