Evening all,

Well I have had my Jaguar for 2 months and put 2000 trouble free and very happy miles on the clock and I noticed my front brakes are groaning when coming to a halt and when reversing a slight metal on metal noise. So I've have got my mechanic to look at the brakes and renew pads and discs if necessary.

The car has been spot on apart from this issue and I'm hoping to keep her for the long term so next year I'm getting the cam belt changed and would like to know if it's worth changing the water pump while that's being done ?

Thanks for listening ,

Gary.

Update - mechanic just brought Jag back and to my surprise the brakes were full of dust and just needed cleaning out. No more groaning.

I think that qualifies as a result!!

Evening all,

Well the groaning noise was gone but was replaced in midweek by a very loud rattle from the front end. Upon further investigation I noticed one of the anti rattle clips on the outside pad was missing and the other was out of shape.

Unfortunately the mechanic couldn't look at it for a couple of weeks so I bought some new clips and convinced by brother to help fit them thinking it would be a knuckle buster of a job. An hour later we were sitting in his kitchen having a brew wandering what all the panic was about.

Moral of the story is before you call the mechanic just try to fix it yourself and you may be surprised be how straight forward the job is.

Thanks for listening ,

Gary.
