            hope this post hits all the right members             

ive been an active events team  member for many car clubs for a number of yrs now and would like to do the same here but as with most things in life one can only do it with the help of others so this is where you come in as a member of the club .

 

so do you fancy a day out in your jag, maybe a car show - down to the coast for the day - family picnic day - a dealership day  - bar-b-que e.t.c

these are just a few things we can do if your willing to put a little time & effort in

 

so what im asking you as a member lets put are heads together over a pint / coffee / soft drink & see what we come up with 

 

come &  meet up with like minded members remember drive the car not the keyboard  & dont forget to post a reply

Not so many of us on here from South Wales although I would be happy to participate in such an event especially in the Bank Holidays with Tenby, Saundersfoot etc not so far away. We often done an overnight camp out like such whilst I was a member of the Round Table.

A couple of years ago I attended a JOC meet at the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon, Warwickshire, sadly only about ten or so turned up, but we had a good day. A designated area was set aside for us where we were able to display our cars, there is a coffee bar/ restaurant where we all went for a coffee and a  chat and then some went around the museum. I believe this would be an ideal venue for a meet as it is pretty well in the middle of the country, ( I am probably biased as I live in the West Midlands and it is a quick blast of an hour or so down the M42/M40 ) but there is plenty to see there. It maybe worth bearing in mind if a meet comes about.

Hi Geoff,

 

I tried to organise a meet last September at Gaydon, but only 5 members were interested, and four of them were quite a fair drive away.

 

I thought it was a good venue, and if a total of 30 people would be attending there would be a good discount on the entry fee, plus dedicated parking etc.

 

The West Midlands is halfway to /from everywhere and a Summer Meet would be great.

For anyone in the Hampshire/Berkshire/Oxfordshire area we run a monthly meeting for the XKEC club at the Hare and Hounds Hotel in Speen nr Newbury. Bath Rd, Speen, Newbury, West Berkshire RG14 1QY  It takes place on the last Thursday of every month at 8pm. We are always happy to see Jaguar owners whatever model they have.

 

Everyone is welcome, just ask at the Bar for the rowdy Jaguar lot and they will point you in the right direction.

Hi Ron,

         Great idea, I agree with Kenny though, not a lot of us here in South Wales it seems it's only him and me!!!!!! The wife and I are off to the Brighton meet in May, we are looking forward to that. I was going to suggest a meet in Aberavon Beach, but they have put speed humps on all the approach roads and built on all the car parks (I don't think they like Jag's here..!).

I parked my car in the Public Car park overnight when I had a meeting at the steelworks and was staying in a B&B without a car park. When I went to get my car at 7.30 am loads of market traders were putting up stalls around it.

 

It took a little persuasion and the promise that I would be moving my car whatever , that they  moved some stalls to let me out.

Lucky you did't park the car in Aberavon especially within the Sandfields area. There would not have been a car to awake to or at least no wheels :-)

And once you have passed all the "Misunderstood" youngsters, negotiated all the speed humps, got to the beach to find all the car-parks built on. Then re-negotiated all the speed humps, once again dodged the "Misunderstood" youngsters and got back into town. You can then join the queue of people waiting to leave town but can't because they have closed the slip road onto the M4 for two hours twice a day! You might be tempted to use the new by-pass to the south! Built to give easy access to all parts of the town, only the new road only gives access to the Abbey Works, all the turn-offs to the town are unfinished! Nice of the council to build a brand new road for the Abbey Works wasn't it? I would not use it though, because at the end of it you run into the queue of traffic waiting for them to re-open the slip road for the M4 again!

           I try to stay indoors now, being a vicar I'm not allowed to use the language you hear in these queues! It has stopped the accidents though, you have to be moving to have one of those!

I am very glad that I do not have to make that journey any more.  I never liked staying over before or after a meeting and always preferred to drive there and back in a day.  I used the Heads of the Valley road more often!
