Hello everyone, thought I would post a quick message to as a general howdy to you all.

Looking to purchase my first Jag after a beemer and a 306 GTi, its an ebony black 02 reg STR 88k miles and full history with Jaguar and specialists in Ely.

Just wanted to know if there was a buyers guide and also what to look for when buying, as I will have a basic list of things to look for, and i was wondering as to the average cost of serviceing and when things go wrong.

Hi James, and welcome to the club.

There are several members with such cars and will assist you.  As has been mentioned, Brian has his car up for sale, and looks like a good buy too.

I don't know of a buyers guide , but there are a couple of issues to look out for.  The sills are covered with a plastic cover and some members have had rust problems, and there can also be a little water ingress into the boot at times

Regards,

Peter.

Tempting, but my head is fixed on the one I will be going to see in a week or two, was just concerned about the cost for servicing and parts if the worst should happen, it has just gotten a new MOT so its looks well cared for but you never know.

Thanks for giving me a heads up about the sills and water in the boot will make sure i add that to my list when viewing.

Hi James,

Two other small tips  ----  Parts can be sources from other than main dealers, and for servicing always sty to find a good independent garage  ---  there is a list in the Jaguars Owners Lounge forum on the club site.

Regards,

Peter.
