Hi all. My name is mike, I'm 28 and I own a 2005 x type 2.5 awd. I usually stick to the Japanese stuff but I fancied something different. I've had this car for nearly 3 weeks and it's working out to be cheaper than my pegeout 407 diesal. I will need to get some new discs and pads soon but I wanted to know how similar they are to the mondeo. Reason I asked is because I've got my eye on some drilled and groved discs but they are for a mondeo. the guy wants £40 for the full set do need to act quickly. Cheers

Hi Mike, and welcome to the club.

I had an X Type 2.5 AWD with a 2005 plate, and found it a very good car.

There is a lot of Ford parts in the X type  ---   good technology.

I am unsure about the answer to your request, but I would suggest a phone call to someone like the David Manners Group or SNG Barratt who are both reliable parts suppliers.

Regards,

Peter.

morning mike

                     firstly welcome to the club.

now to your brakes certain disc's will fit other models / cars etc.

but please cross ref them, i use a company called mtec proformance brakes ltd you can talk to them over the phone or online  they have always steered me in the right direction with disc's & pads etc.

but when it comes down to brakes you need to make sure you get it right in the first place..

Hi Mike and welcome to 'THE JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB' Not having owned and had nothing to do with the X type I have no idea to the answer to your question however, what I would be tempted to do is as suggested earlier cross reference the parts. I would visit the EBC or similar website and look up the discs etc for your model X - Type then the exact same for the Mondeo you have in mind. If both part numbers are alike then its likely that they are the same fitment. Maybe worth checking with more than one brake manufacturer though to be absolutely sure.

Thanks for the replies. I've checked the part numbers with mtec and they both match. Bit of a learning curve at the moment. Makes sense to me to learn what parts are the same. Thanks again for everyone's help.

Hi Mike

Welcome to the Club, about the disc' s and brakes some owners have fitted Ford Focus ST220 Calipers and Disc's to the Front Wheels only . The problem with the Back Brakes is to do with the Hand Brake Cables and I don't think you can fit larger brakes.I may be corrected on this, as for Ford Parts fitted in the x type they say there is only 18/20 per cent of Parts fitted and Half of that was Modified by Jaguar.

Regards

Tom
