Good Evening,

My cousin, who owns a mere Healy 3,000 suggested I join this august club and ask: is it a dealer job or can the unhandy fix a window, actually 2 windows, that have come out of their carriers? My S-Type got frozen up in the winter, and I was foolish enough to try running a window down to pay for fuel without unfreezing it first; result, glass is out of its carrier.  the motors run, but the glass  - having with difficulty raised it into closed position when unfrozen, does not descend.  Advice most eagerly sought, please!

... I neglected to say a warm hullo to my fellow members, I do so now.  Hullo, fellow members! I am, fairly obviously, newly joined.  Kind Regards, JXC.

Welcome to the Club, JX.

I hope you enjoy the club as I can see that you enjoy your S Type  --  and rightly so!

Fixing a window is not a dealer job, as any good garage will be able to do it.

Main dealers will want a lot of money off you to fix it.

Regards,

Peter.

Hello JX and welcome to The Jaguar Owners Club. It is not a big job to resolve the issue with your windows however can become a little tricky. When I have done it in the past it has been a case of removing door cards etc which never seem to go back on the same. Personally I would take it along to a body shop who would be used to such issues, as Peter said don't take it to the main dealer who will only attempt to charge silly money for what can only be described as a simple job.

Thank you,

fortuitously (!) a young person reversed into my front-end in a car park and has agreed to pay the £300 plus, so a body-shop will now be involved.  I shall ask...

Hi JX,

That occasion has turned a disaster into an opportunity.

Regards,

Peter.

Not quite sure if the wording "fortuitously" is the relevant wording however, it appears to fit in with my advice of taking it along to a body shop so good luck.
