Sat Nav Advice

Hi All

I am new here and just purchased an 2006 S Type 2.7D SE. Still trying to get my head around the control however I am slowly getting there. Sat Nav was easy to operated however I have a question, the sat nav cuts out the radio / CD player when instructing on the route, can it  be programmed to speak over the music?.

Can't help you on this Dave, but I had a satnav in my van a few years ago and that didn't cut music, radio out when instructions came on. I hated it prefer for it to cut out. But that's me

I couldn't find an option to allow this so I assume the CD/Radio is always muted during the satnav instructions.  An alternative is to put the satnav on mute and follow the instructions as they appear on the dash, but this does mean taking your eyes off the road a lot.

All the audio devices are linked via the D2B network and are designed so that music is muted when receiving audio , either from sat nav or phone or Jaguar voice.

There isn't any way to override it Dave.

Thank you for your replies guys. @Andy the tyre man. In my van I drive approx. 600 miles a week around London and the home counties. My independent sat nav guides me from street to street however spending so much time behind the wheel it is nice to have music or the radio playing in the background, what's the point in having in car entertainment if every 100 metres the radio is silenced and then 10 metres later comes back to life for 50 metres!. Thank you to the guys that said that this is how it works, when near town I will simply use my other sat nav, simple as that ;)

Ha Ha, I can see it with my glasses on but then I cannot see the road B). At the end of the day and having only had my S type for 4 days I am amazed at the luxury and drive considering my one is 9 years old, love the shape, love the interior, once I settled down I found most of the controls easy to follow, great car, hopefully she will behave herself and if she does I will look after her properly   :D

No worries guys, I will take my Tom Tom when driving around town so as I can have music at low volume in the background, thanks for your help. Must admit this forum has already been very useful, paired my phone and contacts last night, easy as pie when you know how, LoL.

Hi David,

I rarely have the radio on when I am using the satnav, although on long trips I do as I like the background music.

I have varifocal glasses and they are geared so I can read the instruments on the car as my normal near sight is very good.

I have worked all over the country, and carry a good map in the car at all times, and when I was working an A -Z of the big cities.

Regards,

Peter.
