Can any member help please. I am looking for an aircon pipe, it is the one that comes from behind rear of cylinder head (infact it is a double one)  and runs alongside d/s wing. a thick one and a thin one. the thick one goes back to a/c pump and thin one goes to or from even air drier tank. I cannot find one anywhere, apparently it is prone to rotting through,

I tried repair but thin pipe is under very high pressure.

Forgot to say.    S Type 3 ltr V6. 2000.

Hi Stan,  Have you tried the David Manners group?  They can get most things. Get the part number if you can.

Jaguar have them in stock, £380+vat.

I got quoted £480+vat fitted at a local garage.

Seemed easier to get rid of the car and buy a better one in my case!!

Think that's why jaguar moved the pipes on the facelift cars.

Unfortunately so, Stan.

My 1999 Rover Sterling with all the bells and whistles, which I bought  a few months after new, had to go when 12 years old as it needed a full respray, some dents ironing out, and a bit on interior wear sorting our and with 122k on the clock.  The cost would have been more that the car was worth.

On the bright side, there are quite a few s types in good condition around!

Regards,

Peter.

Hi Stan,

I had to get some electrical bits for my Rover from a scrapyard, and they let me check them out before paying for them.

You will be able to have a good look at them before getting them fitted.

Regards,

Peter.

How can you tell if a pipe has a pinhole in it without pressure testing it??

Only way is to go and see if the system has gas in it then remove them yourself, if you have the joint splitting tool though.

I will post results later. having them fitted Tuesday. who knows, the pump might want replacing and the air drier. Pipes look ok but like you say Andy. Its in the lap of the gods. My only regret, like Peter I am now too old to DIY.

Fine, except that it is illegal to expel a/c gas in to the, must be done by profesional

At last air/con fixed, took them three days on and off. but I was quoted £140 so that is what they charged me, including re gas. so cannot complain. But it aint half cold now.
