hi new jag owner but incurring running isd

Hello all. I've recently brought a x type 2.1 2002. But the other day it was very hesitant on acceleration to the point it was almost at a stop. Put in local garage for diagnostic check. Came bk with 02 sensors as code fault. I have now replaced both upstream sensors and fuel filter but again as soon as it is upto running temp. Is again very poor on throttle and almost like limp mode. But first thing in morning is fine for the first few miles until engine is warm. Would appreciate any help on this

Hi Mark and welcome to the club.

 

I am not an engineer, but at a quick guess it sounds a bit like fuel supply.

 

Others with more expertise  will be able to assist.

is this a turbo diesel version? If so might be worth a quick look at turbo actuator; they can stick causing sluggish performance. Appreciate fault code may be showing something different but this could be a red herring.

It's petrol. Have put in 2 new upstream sensors. New fuel filter. But again as it reaches running temp the car becomes hesitant am only able to use basically 1/4 of throttle because it fèls like its in limp mode. Just has no power

If I can just ask is it as the car reaches running temp or is it after a period of time

I ask this because on a petrol engine in the days before all these sensors I would have said its the coil .????

Over heating and breaking down.

I was thinking that when the coil got hot if faulty it would break down .???

a few years back the coils used to give a problem like this .???

 

The same as you I'm trying to think what could fail on warm up.

I think Frank could have hit the nail on the head, Mark.

 

I used to have a Rover Sterling with the 2.5 V6 petrol engine and I found it was losing power after about 20 minutes driving.  My mechanic could not find  the problem until I gave him my car to take home and give it a longer test.  Luckily it lost power after 8 miles as he was turning into  his road.  The coil pack had a faulty coil.
