Headlight Main / Dip Positions

Hi All, I'm confused about the headlight Bulb positions on my fairly newly acquired XF - I thought the main beam would be on the outside of the vehicle using the Xenon HID bulbs with the dipped beam on the inside. Mine however is the reverse to this i.e the dipped beam is on the outside using the xenon HID's with the main beam towards the middle of the car using what appears to be ordinary two pronged halogen bulbs. Surely this can't be right? Any help would be appreciated particularly what if anything could be causing this anomaly (if it is indeed incorrect). Many thanks to all - Adrian
