... to pluck up the courage to remove my front bumper.

Has anybody done this task please?

Is it as easy as it suggests in JTIS and, more importantly, is it a job that one man could do without scratching paintwork?

Any info gratefully received.

Good luck with that, Paul.

I have seen a diagram on how to do it and it looks straightforward for an engineer, but there are a lot of screws to look out for.

Regards,

Peter.

If you give me your email address I can send you a PDF showing the removal in detail if that would be helpful.

I have done it and with very limited space and tools (head light repair) , and would say is pretty easy.

why are you removing the bumper?

where do you live?

I need to remove mine, maybe we could do it together? a friend helped me.

Hi Stan, thanks for the info.

My main concern is the possibility f damaging the paintwork if I attempt it single-handed

Unfortunately we are a considerable distance apart, me living in Wolverhampton.

I need to get my bumper off to retro-fit headlight power wash.

There is at least one vid on YouTube showing how this is done and shows all the bolts/screws to undo.  Just do a google search.

Well, yes, I did try that before mentioning it here. Perhaps you'd be helpful enough to provide some links please Robin? Clearly I've not used the right search parameters.

I admire your interest in fitting extras to your car however I have had several cars with headlamp wash and have never seen the great advantage. Yet more to go wrong?

I had never had headlamp washers until I had my first Jaguar.  Even my Rover Sterling with all the bells and whistles did not have them, and I nearly came to grief because of dirty headlamps.

I had not been very far off the M1, using the A5 when I pulled into a layby to clean the headlanps, and nearly hit some armco and definitely hit a bad pothole which I could not see.  Two new tyres later I looked up how to get washers fitted!  I changed the car instead.

Could really do with a link to the at least one video you mention please Robin. I just can't find anything on Google / Youtube.

Thanks Stanley. It's very good of you to research that for me :)

I'd still like to see the video(s) though please - if anybody can find them.
