got 10% back for praising them on a forum i was a member of, but i really must rate them.

Received the disc today, the back of the disc is purple which would tend to indicate it's an aftermarket burnt one. The printing on the front is somewhat blurry as well.

It'll be interesting to see how long it lasts. I've noticed in the past that the "burnt" discs I have used generally only work for a couple of months before my car would stop recognising them. Generally as time went on I would get longer wait times when the car started for the disc to be recognised and increasingly more and more "Not a map disc" errors before finally they'd just cease to work.

The original disc that came with the car (2003MY) is still going strong.

Disclaimer: Given the price difference I naturally was not really expecting to get a factory made disc, this is more in the nature of research :)

That`s odd because my disc looks like a one you get and not a rough copy ...

As was mine -- it looked like a genuine Denso disc.

When I bought my car the salesman --  main dealer --  told me that discs from Jaguar were too expensive and I could get genuine discs from other sources,  Mine did cost £30, though!

Well, the one I have been sent is definitely not right. I've attached a picture made up of three photographs.

On the left, a genuine disc (seems a previous owner had updated to the 2008-2009 disc), on the right the one delivered. As can be seen the genuine disc has a glossy printed surface, the supplied disc has a flat matte surface consistent with a printable blank CD.

The middle section shows the genuine disc on the left, this gold colour is consistent with a pressed disc created in a factory, the disc supplied is purple which is consistent with dye-based recordable media available to joe public.

The supplied disc shows up as:

Book Type: [DVD+R DL] - [ DVD-ROM]

Manufacturer: [ Mitsubishi Kagaku Media ]

Manufacturer ID: [MKM]

To be fair this manufacturer ID is up in the top class of burnable media.

And finally, on the right, the actual result. Not readable. In ten attempts at starting the car the supplied disc was recognised once, after a 25 second wait. The genuine disc is recognised immediately every time.

So, there you go. Hopefully this post will be helpful for people. Essentially.......... Caveat Emptor :)

An old topic now, but doing some Googling /eBay searches on the Part number in order to try and find a genuine disc, I have discovered that the above disc isn't even the 2011/12 disc!! It is a copy of the 2008/09 disc that has had the years edited before printing!

Really dodgy!
