Since find that my car doesn't have bluetooth installed, I really need to look at an after market option.  So was wondering if anybody as one fitted and could offer advice on which would be the best.  Also how easy to fit and would it be easier to leave Halfords too fit.

Thanks for the help

The S-Type I purchased recently is fitted with a Parrot MKi9200 kit which I think is very impressive.

It consists of a small colour screen attached to a the dashboard, wireless remote control and a control box hidden behind the dashboard.

The control box has its own amplifier so uses the cars existing speakers for telephone calls but also bluetooth, USB or SD card playback.

I found this a bit strange at first, the cars own headunit and volume control work for radio and CD (and autochanger if fitted) but when the Parrot kit is in use, the cars volume control is inactive and the Parrot remote controls its own volume.

The Parrot amp is quoted at 20 watts and sound quality is adequate for music playback.

The handsfree bit handles voice activated dialling and downloads your contact list, incoming calls are clearer than the factory bluetooth on my XE !

I don't know how much these cost as it was already on my car, someone told me £200-£250, so not cheap !

The OEM bluetooth setup is easy to install as a retro-fit if you wanted to John.

I would rather keep original equipment if possible, I have a list of things that I would like to retro fit as some point.  I really really like this car and want to keep it for well a very long time.  By that I mean until I can save up enough to buy an STR.

Well I just found out that I have power folding mirrors one less retrofit to do.  But how would I be able to easily tell if mine as blue tooth fitted ?

Thanks

There should be a microphone pod fitted to the headlining by the interior light console. If that isn't there then you don't have bluetooth OR Jaguar Voice. If it is there, then use your phone to detect bluetooth. If it sees a bluetooth contact called "Jaguar", you have Bluetooth.

Earlier models had the microphone hidden in the overhead console but yours should have the separate one.

Do you have the Sat Nav display?

Doesn't look like I have the mic, so what parts do I need please and what should I expect to pay.  Thanks for the help.

You'll need the bluetooth module, telephone module and microphone John.

You'll also need to modify the D2B fibre optic cable but that's easier than it sounds. Takes about 10 minutes.

Have you got any modules in the boot on the left hand side?

PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you the installation instructions regarding the retro-fit.

Did you scan for a bluetooth installation with your phone? I should give it a try just in case you have the older type of concealed microphone.

Otherwise, if I recall correctly, I bought all the components required for £75 last time I did this retro-fit.

Hi paul,

been looking at this issue as I have the same problem. Desperate to add voice and phone to my 2004 s type touchscreen system. Do you know anyone who could get the parts and instal? Obviously I am happy to pay.  It seems such a minefield so it makes sense to let someone do it that knows what they are doing.

hope you are not offended that I've asked you but you seem to be the man with the knowledge. Look forward to your response .

I am happy to do this work for you if you want Steve. It should take a few hours at most.

You'd need to pop down to my house in Wolverhampton.

Would that be any help to you?

Hi paul,

Really appreciate the response so quickly. That wouldn't be a problem to come down to you. I'm guessing you'd want to have a look at the car first to see what's there and what's needed and also get a deposit from me. All is ok with me.

Please could we arrange a chat to discuss? I'm reasonably free to pop to see you whenever as I've just lost my wife and am not back at work for a while. I don't know if I can put my number on here or my email so please advise how best to communicate. Do we have a ballpark on costs?

Thank you for the offer of help.....it is greatly appreciated.

Have a good day and look forward to speaking soon. Steve.
