Just keeping you all up to speed on the brake fade saga, it's booked in for a fluid change on Friday, so will keep you all informed. Also priced up full disc and pads change £590, not a bad price I thought, what do you all think (genuine parts). PS fluid change £39

Bit Steep @ £590. I changed mine for drilled and grooved discs c/w mintex pads for £200 . I did the job myself in about 6 hours. That included rubbing down the calipers and spraying them silver. Fluid change is a v good price though.

Yep, way too much for discs n pads.

Is that at a main dealer??

Brake jobs can be done an any garage but more technical stuff should be left to an indie or, if your rich, a main dealer!!

Ian,

Personally, unless the friction material was down to the rivets, as it were, I'd be addressing the much more pressing problem of the lack of servo assistance mate :)

Not convinced that a fluid change will have any effect on it either.

Spent a bit of time on tinternet last night after which, I agree with Garry, the cost is steep but this was the first quote and I will shop around, this was main dealer after all. I Must also agree with Paul that loss of servo pressure under braking is the major problem, but as with my XJ the fluid was changed at 75000 the S Type having covered 95000 needs the same love and affection, after which the system pressure will be tested. Will keep you posted. REGARDS Ian
