Hi

I have just joined today!

Any Jaguar owners in the Essex area please be careful if you use Taylor's Service Centre in Dunmow.

My car went for a service this week only to be told my discs were below the recommended minimum. However the discs and brake pads were fitted only 28,000 miles ago and my brake pads are only 85% worn. This basically means my discs have worn out before my brake pads!!!!

Thinking that there was something not quite right I started asking questions and this is what I discovered. Taylor's fitted both the brake pads and the discs about 2.5 years ago and they then disclosed that they had not fitted Jaguar discs to my car but Pagid's.

I take my car to a Jaguar approved service centre so it has full Jaguar parts and when I sell the car I have a full Jaguar service history. The garage never advised me of what they were going to do nor did the ask my permission to fit non Jaguar parts!!!!

When I complained they were completely blarzay about it and were unwilling to correct their mistake without charging me. When I commented on the fact that they had broken my trust in them they said well take your car somewhere else!!!

I also phoned another service centre and they advised under no circumstances do they ever fit non Jaguar parts!!!

Needless to say I have complained to Jaguar about their deception and attitude!!

Beware as if they can't get your part it may be aftermarket and non Jaguar

Welcome to the club, Tracey.

You have fond out the hard way, unfortunately, that some dealers are not to be trusted.  There is a list of recommended garages in the  section  Jaguar Owners Lounge and I am sure you will find one that has been used by a member.

I have used a Mobile mechanic for 12 years who has treated my cars [Rover Sterling, Jaguar X type, and my current s type]in that time just like his own.

You will find members of the club very friendly and helpful people who will assist when they can,

Regards,

Peter.
