Why?   The purpose of a rear spoiler is to provide added downforce at high speed.  I doubt you would ever be going fast enough on the road for a small lip to generate enough force to make any noticeable difference.  Unless of course you plan to use the car for track racing in which case suspension updates will have a much bigger effect than a small boot lid lip.  Or are doing it just for looks?  In which case I'd say forget it.  The S-Type is perfect the way it is.

Why Not?

If it's perfect why do some have spoilers fitted as standard?

I already have a track car which does the job much better than the S-type can and would.

Yes it's more for looks than anything else, but i asked for pictures of them fitted not opinions thank you.

Sometimes an embellishment adds something to a car, and sometimes takes something away, and opinions from other owners are often very useful.

Exactly I agree that's why I asked for pictures of spoilers fitted so I could make my own mind up, on whether it would or would not make the car more pleasing to my eye.  I personally don't like after market stickers on cars a personal choice but other people like them, however I wouldn't offer an opinion on them unless asked.

I've never thought of that before John. It would be good to see what it looks like :)

As Robin says, aerodynamically, it won't have any effect, regardless of the suggestion about increased stability in the link you provide but I can't really imagine what it might look like from a styling point of view and would like to see the effect.

I do like the look of the S-Type in standard form don't get me wrong I personally think a small spoiler would split the back of the car up.  I know it will make no difference to the handling of the car, but I would like one from a look point of view.

Hi Paul and John,

If you google "S Type Jaguar" you will see a topic "Images for S Type Jaguar".

A look through the images will bring up several examples.

Regards,

Peter.

Sorted going to buy the R Type one.  I intend on keeping the Jaguar for a long time, well until I can afford a STR.  So I just want to make it more personal to me without going to far from the OE look.
