I was speaking to a chap last night who assured me that the XK sat nav disks are compatible with the Late model S-Types with the Denso system.

He was convincing... but not quite convincing enough for me to buy a disk from fleabay until I found out more.

Any knowledge, experience etc please?

OK,

I've found a genuine disk for a reasoable price on fleabay so I've bought it.

I'll try it in The Princess and see what happens. Would anybody be interested in the result?

Very interested, Paul.

My satnav has the last disc allegedly produced for the S Type [2012/13].

It can lead you astray in certain new areas!

Well,

The answer to the question is most definitely NO. The disk sits in the drive and the display says "Reading DVD" Left it there for 10 minutes and it got no further.

Anybody want a 2105 satnav map disk for XF and XE models?

I'm just wondering now, whether the map data from the 2015 disk might be merged with the 2011 S-Type disk. I suppose I could compare the 2011 and 2006 disks I have and see what files were changed...

Sorry to arrive late for the party, I hadn't spotted the post.

As far as I know any of the DVD based nav discs should be interchangeable, but I have only ever swapped X / S / XJ discs between cars.

The last XF's to use a disc were the 2011 pre-facelift cars but the XK carried on with the disc based system until it was discontinued last year.

Are you sure that the 'genuine' disc is not damaged / unreadable in any way ?

Does your original disc work straight away when you put it back in the drive ?

I can check with our parts department to see if the part numbers are the same or see if any of the technicians have any experience if it would help.

Jon,

My original disk works immediately when I load it. Well, within about 20 seconds.

The 2015 disk is readable on a PC. Seems OK.

Whatever you can find out would be great thanks :)

Wondering whether the disk content can be merged with the data in my original disk.

Just bought a 2nd-hand 2011/2012 disk for my S-TYPE for £20 from eBay (to replace original 2005/2006 disk) and it worked straight away.

Would be nice to get a more up-to-date disk though, even if it's a brand new disk.

11/12 is the last sat nav disc for S,X,XJ types??

Yes it is Stan.

That's why I am keen to extract the Navteq maps from the later DVDs in a way that the S-Type disks can be merged with.

Unfortunately, it is beyond my ability so I'll have to rely on others to see if it is possible.

I doubt it is possible to merge maps, as they'll be encoded in such a way as to make them unreadable.
