Helllo everybody and Chrome trims on an XKR

Hi,

I am a new club member, and just saying hello!

I have a 2010 XKR , in ultimate black, and its the best car I've ever had.

Knocks the previous Mercs and Beamers for six!

However the only fault on it, is that the window trims, which are chrome coloured, have a sort of watermark/discolouration which is unsightly and impossible to remove, as it seems to be under the finish.

Does anyone know if these can be replaced?, either with new chrome ones, or matt black?

Hi Kevin and Welcome to the club.

 

The problem you have is also there on the S Type both on my car and others.

 

I have tried various methods of removing them using Auto Sol, T Cut, Brasso etc and it still comeback in an hour or so.

 

I have not yet looked always of replacing them,  although painting them in the body colour of black would seem a good solution.

 

I will look around and see if there are sources for replacing the trim entirely.
