Hi all,

The Jag sailed through MOT with no signs of corrosion or rust anywhere underneath

Is it worth applying underseal ?

Thanks

Hi Chris

if you intend on keeping her for any length of time, then i would get it done in heart beat! (bearing in mind the cost of course) give the girl a chance to serve you well for many years to come :)

Thanks Steve

The cost of the tin of Underseal seems fairly cheap.. around the £30 quid mark. Cheaper than a New S Type :)

Hi Chris,

I Think the weakest place is the sills they start to rust first.

I also found when i was looking for my STR that most s-types have some sort of damage where they have been lifted by a trolley jack under the sill

I removed the sill covers  and sprayed into the sills with a long extention tube, there slots and holes in the sides

My sills were still perfect and hopefully they stay like that now there coated.

I used wurth cavity wax, inside all the sills and box sections i could find, then did all the underside in waxoyl

If you do remove the sills, some of my clips broke, but there very cheap on eBay, also I replaced all the pins and clips for stainless ones off eBay on the plastic underside covers

you can get a set that does all the plastic covers underneath in stainless button head pins, off eBay

cheers

Hi Joe,

Lifting with a trolley jack does cause damage, and is easily avoided buy using a piece of woo about 12" to 18" long and about 6" wide.

I learnt that in my caravanning days.

Hi Peter

Are the proper Jacking points not up to the job then? if not i'm glad you mentioned it

Hi Steve,

I think the proper jacking points are OK for us with the jack supplied, but I think that using a trolley jack you have to be careful where you connect it.  Better safe than sorry!

Peter.
