I think I already know the answer to this question, but I thought I'd ask in case I've missed something :)

With the bog-standard Jaguar Entertainment System, is there a way of playing audio from your phone via bluetooth? Calls aren't a problem, but I have loads of music on my phone that I'd like to play in the car.

My previous car had the option, but I don't believe the S-Type can do it.

Thanks in advance.

The S-Type bluetooth setup won't support 'streaming audio' as far as I know.

The cheapest solution would be one of the widely available FM transmitter type adaptors (I think Belkin do them ?)

Used to be around the £20 mark.

Headphone output from your phone plugs into the FM adaptor which then transmits an FM (VHF) signal which you can tune in on a spare preset on your radio.

Sound quality varies but an easy / cheap way of getting music playback from your phone via the car stereo.

There are various other ways including adaptors which use the input for the CD multichanger or the Parrot type kit that was fitted in my S-Type by the previous owner which does bluetooth streaming, USB input, SD card and I Pod !

There's an acm unit that fits into the centre cubby box but it ain't cheap!!

Last one I saw was around £350!!

I bought a ten pound thing off eBay that tunes into the radio and connects my phone via bluetooth to play songs etc.

Only thing is you can't change tracks with steering wheel controls.

No, you can't play music from your phone via bluetooth.

ACM is a useful bit of kit if you can find one at a breaker's yard where they don't know what it is or its retail value. Fully integrates with the Jaguar system and plays from iPod, iPad, iPhone, USB or phono.

As Andy said, they are ridiculously expensive retail but I know of one taken from a local breaker's yard where the chap concerned was told "If you can get it out you can have it"

My son wanted to connect his iPod to his X Type which has bluetooth.

A check with Paul --  who knows all about these technical matters -- indicated that it was quote possible with an Audio Control Module.  The only problem is that they cost about £300.

The Breakers Yard is the best solution if you really need it.

My son is now looking to get a CD interchanger,

On a slightly different tangent, and to save starting a new thread, is it possible to add a reversing camera to the S-Type?

This is an easy , inexpensive satisfactory way of doing it, have one in mine.

Others have done it to show on the incar sat nav screen

, which is expensive and you need to know what you are doing?

Plus were do you look when your reversing?. In the mirror!

Thanks Andy.

So the ACM's are expensive if/when you can find one.

Breakers will be very hit and miss, as I doubt many people had them installed.

Perhaps it's not really worth it at the moment :)

If you do get the chance of an ACM from a breakers, make sure you get it all, consisting of the unit in the centre console, three audio cables that run from the centre console to the unit behind the head unit plus the main wiring and D2B link cables. :)
