I'm not really a new member, I had an X-Type 3.0 a few years ago which very sadly had to go to the scrap yard.

I'm back now as tomorrow I'm collecting a 2000 S-Type V8, I've always wanted a V8 engine ever since I first understood what one was around 10 years old. At that time I imagined a Ford Capri with a V8 implant but having already satisfied my desire for a 3.0 car with the X-Type I'm now really looking forward to my first weekend with the V8...

Thanks Raistlin,

I can report that overall it drives almost like new. It's 15 years old so it does have the odd niggle but I hope nothing that is too much trouble, the main thing is the slight misfire. It occurs between 50 - 70 miles on the motorway when at a constant speed and occasionally around 30MPH. I have bought the car at a good price knowing about this fault which I think is either a coil, plug or maybe throttle body. I've yet to plug it in and read the codes.

Very impressed with the car though, it's smooth and powerful, everything works. Once I have fixed the niggles I'll be looking for some 18" wheels, mesh grill and maybe a sports exhaust system. I'd better get Christmas out the way first so I'll be looking to buy in the middle of January if anyone is selling then?.

The car has Jaguar service history, only two owners and MOT for a year with no advisories, I haven't yet cleaned the car or taken any pics, these are from the internet ad:

I have a set of 18 splits in storage.  Ill take some pics soon.

If your interested you can hear what my V8 sounds like with the exhaust done too before you decide what to do.

Hello Geoff,

I'm in High Wycombe. I'm interested in both the wheels and your exhaust, what do you have on yours? Of course wheels and exhausts are expensive and I'm looking for the most cost effective route...I've compiled a list of everything I want to get done but it adds up to nearly £2000 so I'll have to go slow and steady over the next year or so..
