Car - 2.7D XS S-type 2006

Issues - low level rumble noise when in motion, more apparent when at low speed.

I have changed a wheel bearing and no change, could it be a tyre?

worst still, could it be a gearbox or Diff?

I live near Bristol so if anyone know and good mechanic that can diagnose it before i spend pots of money that would be great

Cheers

Is there any message in the message centre?  There usually is if there is a gearbox problem.

If there is a bump in a tyre you can usually feel it in the steering if it is in the front. You can also trust a visual inspection of a tyre on the outer side and by feeling it on the inner side.

nothing on there Kenny so time for a trip to the garage me thinks!

Does the message centre - contained within the tachometer dial - have messages such as "passenger door open" etc.  It will say "Gearbox Fault" if there is something wrong with the gearbox.

all sorted gent's, some numpty put cheap 'Wanli' tyres on the front and it gives out terrible road noise, just checked it with a great little independent Jag mechanic in Maidenhead and he put my mind at rest. I'll stick them on the back, do a few burn-outs and then treat myself to some new ones!

all good...
