Hi Robert --Yes I'm afraid there is a problem with the X Type
rusting sills I had to have 2 put on mine and + MOT it cost
£450 so not a cheap item but once done and treated  it can
be forgotten I'm not sure but I think that 2006 and after do
not suffer from this ????
I hope you get everything sorted as they are a great car .

Thanks explains a lot and Apparantly the ones for the 3.0 are different to the 2.1 2.2 models so special order quote is over 4 figures at moment so no Christmas for me lol

Well £1300 lighter but a valid MOT I would trust, which means should I make a complaint agains the previous garage for its MOT as some of the rust on the sills must have been visible as no way the holes I saw appeared in a year, the garage was in Bradford

had same problem with my 3.o litre X type, £400 lighter now as a result

just posted some photos on another part of forum, they were pretty bad.

I too wondered how they could have got so bad in a year since it's last MOT

when dealer had it tested.

I urge everyone to get them checked as comes as a nasty shock when a

total of £750 lighter for MOT
