Hi I'm new to the owners club as I have only recently bought my x type 2.0d classic estate

My car is a 54 plate with 178000 miles on recently serviced all filters and Oil,new inter cooler hose, new tyres brakes and discs I got the car running as it should a couple of weeks after the intercooler hose replacement started a long journey just filled up after about 7-8 mile of heavy traffic started to accelerate on to the motorway when the car when in to limp mode but when I turned engine off and back on it would reset the accelerating between 2000-3000 rpm it would happen again I had to drive home using my gears trying not to put it under load so it wouldn't cut out no codes showing car sat for one week till I had the time to look at it got given some advise from a friend that we needed to take some of the fuel out of the car to be sure it wasn't related to the full tank the only way we were able to get the fuel out was from the fuel filter after the car started ok but we started to here a buzzing sound from around the engine car stop had to get jump leads out to get the engine to attemp start opened nuts slightly on injectors went to turn over fuel came out of each one as we though there may be air in the line closed all nuts back can get car to start then it revs up while starting after between 3-5 second the engine cuts out glow plug icon flashes up been on this for about a week now I finally managed to retrieve a code today from my OBD reader code was

P0251 generic

Injector pump fuel metering control A

(Cam / rotor / injector)

I have replaced the camshaft sensor today on advise but still failing to get the engine to keep running has anyone come across this issue before of have any advise to resolve this problem as can't afford to take car to the garage so have to do all the work myself any help on advise would be much appreciated thanks

Hello Aaron.

Your problem sounds very similar to my issue i had with my EGR valve. The valve was starting to stick open so was choking on its fumes and gradually got worse to the point my car would not start. I blanked it off with a £3 blanking plate from eBay and it ran perfectly. Just left it blanked and car runs like a dream, if not better than it did before. For £3 and a 15 minute job it is worth a try. Let me know how it goes and if you have any questions im happy to help.

Hi john I have now tried the blanking plate hasn't made a difference but a friend of a Friend said it will probably be the fuel rail regulator so I will be trying this next

Hi Aaron,

The S Type 2.7 diesel has two EGR valves and they cannot be blanked off for some technical reason.  When I get the warning light with Code P0402 I either gove the car a good blast, or use a can to Wynns Diesel EGR cleaner.

I've finally got some error codes from the x type yesterday as we had good weather have looked them up but unsure of corse of action due to circumstances they were obtain data

To get the car to start I need to unplug my maf sensor will start trying to stay running for about 10 seconds then cuts out

The following codes then apeared

P1000 undefined code

P0201 injector circuit / open cylinder 1

P0202 injector circuit / open cylinder 2

P0203 injector circuit / open cylinder 3

P0204 injector circuit / open cylinder 4

Have seen a number of posts online say replaced injectors but my issue I need to answer before that is way car won't crank when maf sensor connected if anyone can help with this it would be most appreciated Thanks

hi aron, on reading your first post, you said the car went into limp mode?  and not rev above 3000rpm. may i suggest that you try this.... connect everything back up, and if possible start car!  now if you hear a buzzing sound see if its coming from the top of the turbo. as you did state that there was a  buzzing before. now what you need to do is look and see if you have an eletronic turbo actuator. this is an arm that comes from the turbo to the actuator and moves as you rev, look to see if the arm moves from the actuator. if not this may be you problem, hope this helps.

EGR valve.... if you look at mine in my profile, you can see how bad the carbon build up is!  but then after a good clean :-)   but also if you noticed in the picture there is a metal rod which has a plunger on it you must check that this goes up under suction and stays up!!!  this is all linked up to the turbo unit that regulates the operation of the EGR valve, along with the emissions too.

The plunger moves on turbo when attempting start with no buzzing the buzzing only happened the once when engine stopped running

Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor
The crankshaft position (CKP) sensor is located at the rear left side of the engine mounted to the cylinder block. It is used to detect the engine
position and speed of the crankshaft. It is a permanent inductive type sensor. Should the CKP sensor fail, the engine will not start. if you have the diesel like me, best to take off the top plastic cover, then the air cover tube, then hopefully you should be able to see the sensor.

Hi all. I have a jaguar 2.2 diesel 2009. The engine will start and idle very badly and will not rev up when i use the pedal. The engine will run on idle for about ten minutes then it will let me rev it up and blue smoke will pour from the exhaust for a while. this will eventually stop. The engine also has a small vibration at around 1200 RPM. I have had a new duel mass flywheel and clutch fitted. I have replaced the EGR valve, The MAF sensor, rail sensor, flywheel sensor, and the camshaft sensor and still the car runs like crap. The injectors were replaced last year about 4,000 miles ago.I have also fitted a second hand actuator. I have ordered a code reader, however it has been on a friends code reader and no faults come up. Please can anyone who has had this same problem help. Cheers, Tom.

ahi Thomas, sounds like you've had a good go at this but not much luck by the outcome ?   things I would try is check all intercooler pipes, intercooler itself, splits and cracks, then throttle pedal sensor if one is fitted, may need to check resistance across pedal sensor ?  earth contacts too in case short is happening. just a little something to try if your able too, good luck dave.
