Hi All

One of the jobs on my list to do, is change the single CD (Broken) so i got thinking i may change the radio at the same time. i need a CD player / Radio / USB stick reader. (I dont have music on my Samsung android phone)

I found this http://www.halfords.com/technology/car-audio/car-stereos/pioneer-fh-x720bt-car-stereo which i presume is a Double Din unit, from what i can tell has bluetooth so you can receive / make calls? although i already have a parrot system so not important.

Have any of you guys fitted a unit of this type and size? any tips, pics would be appreciated. I will probably ask Halfords to do it

Regards

Steve

Can't comment on the radio a part from looks OK for the money. I'd be making sure it will work with your steering wheel controls and cd changer if you have one, if that bothers you of course.

Cheers Tony

i hadnt given any thought to the steering wheel controls, i would imagine there is some sort of connector for that?

I saw a similar unit on Amazon which specifies it's for the S-Type and wondered if this was an alternate solution to adding the connectivity wiring for USB and iPhone etc. I have a tape deck in mine, which is a bit of a laugh, so this could be a good solution as I also don't have a the cartridge for the boot changer. I'm interested in pursuing this option if anyone has a definitive answer ;)

I know that you can buy adapter cables for the steering wheel controls but don't know if there is one for the s type. This one on eBay says that cables are available in the advert but I would be inclined to ask just to be sure.

I got in touch with with Halfords, below is thier response

you will need- Fascia CT24JG02 at £29.99 and wiring loom which will also connect the steering wheel remote- CTSJG003.2 at £43.99, all item will need to be ordered in for you at your local store, the fitting charge would be at £30.00

I'm tempted to agree with Andy re the Halfords install,  but I tend to do all my own work anyway. I'd be very interested in a picture of what one looks like in situ, and I've asked the eBayer if they can confirm fitment and if they have a pic of an installed one. Although I've just looked online and there are a few images of aftermarket units...

Mine is prefacelift, so the unit goes at the top, not under, but I've found some images of aftermarket units. I strongly dislike those with too much going on at the best of times, flashing lights and such, which is arguably not worthy of the understated Jag interior. I also don't like doing jobs twice so would want to future proof with a DAB I think, so I may keep looking unless there was a sensibly priced, understated DAB version out there. A touchscreen one might fit the bill but it would be more expensive ;)
