top up auto box what to use?

hi this is my first post,please can you advise on what to top up my 2001 v6 auto s type gearbox please I keep reading things and im now confused.OEM fluid or synthetic then which one ! HELP .........

Hi Keith, and welcome to the Club.

Opie Oils will tell you exactly what you need.  They are also trade members of the club.

They are a very good Oil supplier, amongst other things, and if you check their website all you will need to do is to put in your Reg Number.

I've just tried the selector Peter and they don't seem to provide transmission fluid?

Maybe I've missed it?

Hi Paul,

I have just checked out the website and all car fluids are there at what looks like very good discounted prices.

It is a tricky site to get around but I looked at fluids rather than Oil and eventually found it.  I didn't use the selector, as I sometimes find myself trying to argue with it!

OK Peter. Thanks. I'll have another look. As you know, I changed my transmission fluid recently but interested to see the price Opie charge as this particular fluid is ridiculously expensive.

Got to disagree on there prices 5ltr Shell Helix engine Oil £41  same Oil e,bay £27.50  could not find there transmission Oil

We were discussing the price of Transmission Fluid for the Automatic gearbox, and their prices are rather good.

I know Peter as I said I could not find transmission Oil but just said the Oil I did look at was expensive

Engine Oil is a very competitive market.  My mechanic, who has serviced my cars for about 14 years can buy top grade Oil, Castrol Magnatec, for instance at a third of the price that Halfords sell for.

I think that what you have to look for  is Gearbox Fluid.
