Hi Dan, and welcome to the Club.

It is great to see some younger people getting their hands on S Types.  And BRG can look great in the sun when kept nicely washed and polished.

I was 79 when I bought my S Type Indigo Blue Pearlescent  ----   and I think it keeps me young.

If you ever go to the Heritage Motor Museum at Gaydon near Coventry, you will see an S type in BRG which was actually raced by Jaguar.  It is not a 3.0 or 4.2 litre but a 2.7 litre diesel!

I bought mine at 37, after an Oil spillage (untreated) on a road caused me to crash my 3 series😓 despite my s type having issues I still love the way it looks.just gonna use some subtle touches to keep me looking back at her😉

I must have been in my early 30's when I bought my MK V111,I wish I still had it now ,this was followed by a very rotten 2.4 MK1 followed by a Daimler 2.5,there then was a long gap until I bought an XJ6 mk2 , I tired of changing head gaskets on that one , next was a XJ40 , this was so badly vandalised  whilst locked in a garage that it had to be scrapped.

I am 82 tomorrow and I don't consider myself old.  I wanted an S type since I saw my mate refurbishing a Mk1 in the sixties.

This is my second Jaguar and I think it is great.

Bought my s-type 2 months ago when i was 24. I like to think it's fiction... My Boss, friends and colleagues give me constant digs saying this is an old man's car. Then I let them sit inside, show them the gadgets and let them drive it and that shuts them up! I think anyone who wants comfort and a relaxed ride with that hidden power should get involved with these cars regardless of age. There's very few other cars like a big cat that when you pass someone who's driving the same vehicle as you, you'll get that nod of mutual respect.

I was 44 ... XJ Sport 4.0 ... in green ... kept her for 9 years .... then swopped her for a "cheaper to run 1.8 Merc Kompressor".   Finally got rid of that (never again) and now have an S Type 2.7 d . which ironically is even cheaper to run than the Merc

Approx Average age 45.7 

i'm coming up mid fifties, and I'm not going to pigeonhole what constitutes 'Old' ( not for me to say) but 45.7 does not reinforce the 'Old mans' car myth in my opinion

Myself, always loved MarkII/Stype (old) since I was kid. Got my dream car an AMDB7 at 37. Needed an every day driving car...could not imagine a Focus, Mondeo et al...so thought long and hard and decided, then luckily found my beloved Black S Type V8 Auto....at 41 years young.

No one has suggested it's an old mans car. I love it every day more. Puts a smile on my face every dear more.

Very nice Amal, here's ours next to an original 1967 S-Type and an XJ8 at last year's local Jag show. Looking forward to going again this years show on the 24 July when we'll hopefully have some other work done including fitting the leaper and refurbishing the wheels. I thought I may be at the younger end of ownership, but then I remembered I'm not 25 anymore, I'm actually 48, which put's me about average I think!

Mine is the 2001, 3.0 Sport (petrol) with the rare manual box, so lighter, faster and more economical than the autos, but not to everyone's taste. I can appreciate it would be nice wafting along with an auto box, but on balance I'm very happy to have found a good manual. I looked for nearly a year and then travelled for her and I'm very glad I did .

I'd like my next Jag to have a supercharger and can't stop thinking about an XKR X100 coupe! I'd still want to keep the S-Type though even if I was lucky enough to get an XKR. One day soon hopefully now I've learnt I can add the tiptronic steering wheel gear shifters as a retro fit  .

I'm a recent first time owner at the age of 30.

As mentioned, I've also had the jokes of and old mans car, however once people see how it looks and drives they are very impressed,

Plus for value for money they're great.

I picked up an 03 S-Type 2.5 Sport (says Sport 200 when looking up reg, does this mean anything? other than the power output?).
