I recently bought an XE R Sport 2.0d with premium paint. I see the Jaguar brand as iconic and in Australia they are not that common. Unfortunately it has been the worst experience of my life. The car has 3 significant paint defects in the premium paint, it has a dent in the B pillar between the doors that has been painted over and the rear spoiler is fitted off center. After trying to contact Jaguar Australia for over 2 months they have finally called back to offer me a smash repairer to respray my brand new car. I said no, and they have said nothing else can be done. Jaguar Australia has effectively sold me a factory second at a new car price and are now laughing at me.

I'm not happy that Jaguar have kicked an own goal by allowing all these defects to slip through, but to be treated like a nobody by Jaguar Australia with little contact and this is what we offer take it or leave it is unbelievable for such an iconic brand.

Has anybody else had such a poor experience with Jaguar.

It has turned me off so much Jaguar Australia have left me no choice but to go back and recommend to friends, family and colleagues German Cars.:wallbash:

Hi Ash, and Welcome to the club.

Sometime a car slips through the inspection net even in Germany.  This is not to condone the delayed action by Jaguar Australia.

I once had a company car delivered to me with 5 dents in the body and a complete electrical failure with the lights and indicators.  Ford were very apologetic and made the repair in the dents and electrics very quickly with an excellent respray. A few years later I met the guy who had bought the car when it went up for sale, and he told be that it was the best car he had ever had.

I would have been inclined to take the repair and respray as often these independent body shops do a very good job.

Regards,

Peter

You bought this as new or used car? Its pointless going straight to the manufacturer with a complaint! Your complaint is with the dealer who you bought the car from? You did not buy it directly from Jaguar!

The ACL law in Australia has been in place since January 1st 2011 which gives you legally enforceable consumer guarantees that the car is of acceptable quality? If you have what the ACL calls a major failure* you are entitled to return it to claim a refund or replacement. A major failure* is when a reasonable consumer would have NOT bought the car if they had known about the problem?

Don't let the dealer respray the car as this will be on the cars history! The dealer is using this tactic to get paid for the work by making a claim under Jaguars paint work warranty.

Go back to the dealer and firmly reject the car! Don't take any bullsh*t about going back to the manufacture! Either there living in the past or hoping that your are! Since ACL which also applies to imported cars dealers can no longer pass the buck? If the dealer fails to acknowledge ACL then notify the ACCC federal regulator for your state or territory? And maybe a local news paper would like a story.

Its not only British cars I bought a 2002 Monaro 472 once and that was a pile of:shit:

Don't be put off the type and blame the manufacturer. Regect it with the dealer and get your money back.

cant see how Jaguar would have allowed this car to leave production with such defects, it just doesn't ring true.

my own thoughts are that, it was damaged in transit after it left Jaguar control or damaged post landing in Aus, either way they are trying to pass it on without loosing out. The service I've had from Jaguar dealerships in the UK has been faultless, however, from my experience BMW, Audi and Mercedes dealers leave a lot to be desired.

Good luck and let us know how you get on

Cheers

Andrew

glad to see that other people also have problems with Jaguar dealers.

I also received my Jag in not such a good painting so the dealer repainted the whole trunk. Now i'm waiting to get the rear window exchanged as there is a glas-drop inside. I wondered how a luxury could ever leave the factory with lots of errors.

by the way... after i picked up my brand new car i couldn't even make it to my home. The engine blew up after 62 miles. I'll post my story in the introduction area. I can't wait then this leasing time is over.....

Welcome to the club , Marco.

I asm sorry to hear about your experience.  It is most regrettable when any manufacturer sends out a poor quality product, and also regrettable when it is a premium manufacturer like Jaguar.  Unfortunately sometimes quality control sometimes misses something and the error rate is quite minimal, although if it is your car that statement does not apply or indeed comfort you.  I once had a company car that was delivered to me with 5 dents in the body work and  none of the lights working.  It spent 5 days at the local Ford main  dealer.

I also had a Toyota Avensis in 1998 as a company car, with garish upholstery which transferred itself to you clothes, faulty steering apparently known by the manufacturer "All the Avensis models are like that" was the answer to the complaint. It put me off Toyota for 19 years until three weeks ago when I bought a Toyota  Yaris Hybrid as a 50th Wedding anniversary present for SWMBO, which was presented immaculately, drives very well and ha a great build quality  ---   it been built for 19 years though  ---  it often takes time to get a car right.

I hope you succeed in getting the car sorted out and enjoy the rest of you time with you XE.

Regards,

Peter.
