I wonder if anyone has any knowledge or experience on this. I want to replace the brake discs front & rear on my 2003 S-Type 3.0 Sport. I contacted a company on line, giving them my registration number & VIN. They replied that there are two different makes for my braking system. One is LUCAS & the other is TEVES, & it is important to know which ones I have fitted. My question is, are they radically different? How do I find which ones I have?

Hi Andy,

I have looked around, and can't find anything definite.

There are several companies who could help and it might be worth ringing them,   --  Euro Car parts, Rimmer Bros, and the David manners group, with the latter having an online catalogue.

It might be worth trying a good independent Jaguar specialist --  just a chat over the 'phone to see if there is a good method of finding out.

Regards,

Peter.

Hi Andy,

They are usually pretty good.

I think that a wheel needs taking off to check which discs and pads you have on your particular car.

Peter.

I've had a look as well, stuff I have looked at, seems to suggest 'MINTEX' could be another option for the OEM for pads and discs (or rotors as they seem to be known) also another name crops up 'Brembo'

Hi Jim

Thanks but my brakes are fine, I had a look around for Andy.

Pagid was another name I came across also (Never heard of them!)

Thanks again though

Regards

Steve

Hi Andy,

Jaguar do fit a few different brands but Europarts told you that Jaguar would have fitted Lucas or Teves on an s type of your year of manufacture.

I do now that Pagid are a good make and Jaguar sometimes fitted the on to the S Type 4.2R.

But to find what you have on your car, you will still have to take a wheel off.

Regards,

Peter.
