hi i have a 1998 xj8 4.0 which starts well without effort most of the time. but then sometimes it takes a few turns of the key to fire up, it  is cranking well and battery seems fine , i have tried starting in neutral instead of park, no pedals used, etc i havent had the car too long ...is there something im not doing? or any ideas as to what might be the problem, it seems to be getting more frequent ... it was once every dozen starts or so but now more often than that.. any advice would be appreciated, im a novice so .......thanks

Hi Trevor, and welcome to the club.

You have checked the things I would have checked. 

Maybe fuel?  Maybe something mechanical.

I am not a mechanic, and someone with more expertise  will be able to help.
