Hi Neal,

Mine defrosts the whole windscreen when on heater element only (not including fan)

This is interesting as I thought it was one electrical circuit.

Hi Neal,

I have just been out to see if any frost was left on my car, but none to  be found.  Just to see how mine worked because I rarely need to use the defrost.

But when My windscreen was replaced by auto glass there was only one electrical connection.

Regards,

Peter.

Mine was the same. Remove the wipers and cowl. There are two connections, one in each corner. Check the electrical connection fastened to the bulkhead at the faulty side. Mine was impossible to split as it was corroded. I cut it off and used choc blocks, heatshrink and lots of tape to rewire.

Result, heated windscreen now functions correctly

Right side is relay R13, fuse F7 40A and left side is relay R3, fuse F32 40A, both in the engine fuse box.

The relays may well be the soldered in type below the grill in your picture.

If you’ve found the fuses, switch them on and check for power  at the fuses.

Are, sounds about right, both fuses have power. Do you know if the windscreen connectors are in the engine bar or behind the a pillar?

That question I cannot answer unfortunately. I would hazard a guess at the bottom of the ‘A’ pillars inside the car.
