Changed all the interior bulbs today. Why didn't i do this before the difference is startling to say the least all for £20.

Hi Ian,

Did my boot lighting a little while ago and added an extra LED module to improve things, link below

This is something I've heard a lot about Ian but never seen it for comparison in an S-Type.

Would it be possible for you to upload some pictures please? I'm very keen to see the difference

Just got in so took a quick snap of the illumination within the car, have no pictures of what light was before change, believe you me Paul if you do this you wont be disappointed, the only ones I have not replaced are the reading lights in the rear seats, kept them as original did not want to be dazzled if they are used when I am driving, I am sure you see this as a safety issue.

HI Ian,

That lighting looks great.   It makes a great difference in the footwells, particularly. Where did you get the bulbs from?

Peter.

Now that looks well worth the effort Ian. Thank you for the photo.

Would you have any links to where you got them please?

All led bulbs were purchased from my local motor factors, 8 bulbs came in just under £20

Thanks Ian

Hi Ian,

I have  been contemplating this for a while...in Amber or orange. Guessing yours is in white?

its a cool upgrade and I've seen it in the orange and , whilst it's not great for reading and the like, it's a fantastic warm glow that matches the dash oranges. As my interior is two tone grey it should look cool.

well done mate looks fab. Once I've done a list of the type and quantity of bulbs I'm off hunting for orange led bulbs.

will post a snap at night to show an alternative colour to yours. Yet again a great idea for others to see the possibilities with these cats.

does anyone know where I can source a list of interior Bulb types and quantities?

Started digging through the interior and have, as usual, got frustrated trying to get at the bulbs....even managed to stab myself with a screwdriver!

looked in the owners handbook and can't seem to find anything.

appreciate any assistance

Steve,

To get the overhead light console down is as you did it when we installed the microphone. Then the bulbs are push fit into the white plastic Bulb holder assembly.

How did you possibly know I was having issues with those bulbs? Have you fitted a camera in my car?......lol.

am on the case paul.....trying not to get frustrated with the fiddly bits and checking the bulbs ready to source.

Still hoping for a list of bulbs to make my life easier.

Thanks for the assist.

It is possible to pull out the white Bulb carrier assembly after you remove the overhead console Steve. This will make Bulb extraction easier but if you do so you must refit the Bulb carrier with the two retaining clips. If you do not use the retaining clips and just push hthe bulb holder in to place you may never get the overhead console down again without destroying the head-lining.

Been there, nearly done that. Nearly got the T-Shirt.

bulbs needed:

Overhead console -
- Requires two 194 bulbs
- Requires one Festoon

Rear overhead -
- Requires one Festoon

Flip down visor (1) -
Don't know yet

Footwells -
- One 194 bulb

Boot Light -
- One Festoon

Map light -  WLED-xHP15-TAC

Thanks paul,

yes im being gentle ....at least I admit I'm a little heavy handed at times. Thanks for the list....I can start chasing bulbs without breaking or bleeding!

will hopefully source new bulbs and fit them shortly......then if it looks right post a few pics.

Fingers crossed my colour choice is right!

Be good and take care

Try as I will I can not get the front map light covers of and don't want to break them please what am I doing wrong

Unfortunatley, I'd suggest that you won't be able to get the bulbs out without dropping the overhead console. I certainly can't but I have fingers like pig's trotters.

Ok thanks for that Paul I really should read up on things before I start

Better still, ask on here :yahoo:

It may be possible anyway, Gordon

So changing the existing bulbs to LED's didn't cause any problems with the Jag's other electrical systems?  I was considering changing the parkers (sidelights) to LED's but read somewhere that changes to power loading can cause issues.  Not true?
