hi

looking back at you first comment, your problem was you could not get it out of park, its interlocked

just checked on my car,

you cant move it from park with the engine running or engine stopped unless you press the brake

you can only start the car unless the N or P are lit up red on the j-gate

you need to check these next time it wont start

this will tell where the fault is

starting.xps

the problem you will have is that you will only be able to check when the fault there,

I would be tempted to change relay 20 in the engine bay as this could fail with heat as its right next to the engine

you could swap it with another relay in the fuse box next time it fails just to prove it

(this is for a diesel engine.) The crankshaft position (CKP) sensor is located at the rear of the engine mounted to the cylinder block. It is used to detect the engine
position and speed of the crankshaft. It is a permanent inductive type sensor. Should the CKP sensor fail, the engine will not start. just another thing to try? again good luck...

Hi Yes

the engine would not start, but it would turn over and crank and maybe so not start

he's getting nothing when he turns the key, engine is not turning, starter is not engaging,  so ckp sensor  does not matter

cheers
