I helped Denis retro-fit premium sound in Stacey's car today.

What a heck of a difference it makes to the quality of the sound when you consider how ridiculously easy (most of) it is to install.

Denis had already sorted out the sub speakers when I got there and the rest of the installation, including the manufacture of a bespoke D2B loom, only took an hour, including the installation of the all-important ALPINE badges on the front door speaker grilles.

That premium sound system really does improve the audio experience. Anything from opera to Bhangra :yahoo:

Again, if anybody is contemplating this retro-fit and has any questions, just ask away

Hi,

So the car was wired for premium sound set up then, I understand there is a plug in the boot which is all the speaker feds for the amp and also all the speaker feds back to doors. Which means there is 2 sets of speaker plugs in the doors, one std and other premium?

The reason I ask is mine doesn't have the premium loom. It's a 55 plate facelift which left the factory non touch screen, I have always been unhappy with the stereo sounds so after fitting touchscreen etc I  was thinking of then fitted the premium set up but no having the loom plus the cost of the premium amp ( £170 + speakers) l decided to go after market amps and speakers.

I'm not aware that having touchscreen was a prerequisite for premium sound when specifying the S-Type from new Simon.

The twin screen models have provision for CDC so D2B would not be a problem. Presumably there would be some sort of display on the twin screen models for adjusting the sub base and for DSP.

Every late model car I've looked at has the loom but I have to admit that they all have had touchscreen as well.
