Hi all I have a jag s type 1999

steering Collumn locked , I've done everything I've read online I've even had diagnostics guy out to try and clear code I'm getting no where 

I've got code p1260 which is anti theft system car immobilised is there anyway past this or is car very for scrapers it has a Brandnew battery and car is earthed well diagnostics guy checked all this please can anyone help I'm going mad can't start the car just getting message steering Collumn locked

Hi Toni.

Is the column actually locked? Do you hear the locking pin retracting when you insert the ignition key?

 

If you hear the locking pin retract, then all that is probably required is a reset using the IDS / SDD diagnostics.

Otherwise it's the column release module (steering lock) itself which will need replacing. Cost a fortune for a new one or possibly could get on from a breakers yard but it would need setting up with the SDD / IDS.

Hya there's no life at whe u insert key except for dash lights etc I've changed the steering Collumn and electric steering lock but new battery on had diagnostic guy tried to clear the code nothing worked so far

As far as I'm aware, you need to link security modules to the car using the SDD / IDS.

Having given this some more thought, and looked up the DTC, it's more likely that the link between the immobilizer and the key is corrupted.

Have you got a second key? Have you tried it?

I thought it cud be the transponder but not really sure don't really want to keep throwing money at it as everything I've bought hasn't worked so far not having much luck with it
