The park brake message "Park Brake Malfunction" is well known and easy to rectify, and there is a procedure detailed on the forum for doing so, which is well worth printing off and keeping.

I had another message when I got back from holiday  - "Cannot Apply Park Brake"  -  with the Brake Light flashing.  I followed the same procedure as for Park Brake Malfunction which worked perfectly.

The only difference with the message was that the car would work perfectly apart from the flashing brake light, whereas "Park Brake malfunction" won't let the car move.

The other thing I did was close the boot when the battery was disconnected  --  thankful that the S Type boot can be unlocked with the key.

"Cannot Apply Park Brake" is an indication that the cable movement or force required is out of range Peter. I hope you don't see it regularly because it requires the EPB actuator to be removed and that is not a job to relish :whistling1:

Hi Paul,

Thanks for that information.  Morgana goes for its service and MOT in the next couple of weeks and I will mention it to my mechanic.

Not the best thing to happen when you come back from a great holiday.

Peter.

Hi Paul,

That would be useful.

I did plug it in to my OBD2 reader, and nothing came up.  The EPB  recalibration  went as it has done before.

There has been no warning that the brake pads need replacing, Stan, and they look OK.

My car goes in for it's MOT on the 17th of June, so anything like that will be sorted.

The brakes work perfectly well at the moment.

Regards.

Peter.
