Hallo,

Looking to buy a S type, seems to be a lot of car for the price. Not that many available here at the moment, just have to keep my eye on the car sale sites.

Ideally want a 3.0 Petrol Automatic.

This forum looks to be pretty useful having just skimmed through the topics. Look forward to more in depth reading.

Welcome to the club, Trevor.

The S type is a great cat, and in my opinion, a future classic.

I hope you can find what you want,  but don't disregard the 2.7 Diesel.

I just have this intense dislike for diesels. I know it has no reason with modern diesels, just cannot get over it. Probably an age thing.

Hi Trevor, 

I had two diesels as company cars in the nineties which I found rather good, one had the Peugeot engine and the other a Rover engine.  When I retired in 1999 I had a Rover 2.5 Petrol Sterling, but three years ago went to a Jaguar 2.7 Diesel and have been very pleased with it.

But the 3.0 litre S Type has one of the best engines there is, so it is not a bad choice, but they are getting a bit rare.
