So, 2 days ago I bought my 1st jag, a 2.5 v6 sport for an absolute bargain. The guy whom sold it to me informed me that it developed a rattle the day after changing the alternator belt and since then hasn't driven it, so I took it off his hands for a steal at £120 . From the research I have done it sounds like the cam tensioners could need adjusting or the alternator position needing adjusting. Does anyone have any experience with this issue? I have driven it, albeit no exeding 40mph for about 2 miles to get it home, and everything seemed absolutely fine except the rattle. The only noticeable difference in it was linked withe the change of engine speed, which again tracks with my theory of it being related to tensioners/alternator. Please help

Hi Chris, and Welcome to the club.

You could well be right, and I would suggest finding a good garage to have a look at it.

The 2.5 AWD is a very good car and well worth getting it right.

Regards,

Peter.
